Audience Development
Audiences are incredibly important to the visual arts and in particular to the CVAN Network members.
Projects past and present have focused on developing greater knowledge about our individual and collective audiences and also testing new methods of reaching them.
CVAN are currently working with the Audience Agency to develop a national, visual arts specific cluster of galleries and institutions who are engaging with audiences. The Audience Finder programme will mean that for the very first time we can gather and share data nationally on visual arts audiences.

Family Arts Campaign have announced a new year-round promotional campaign to families, to replace the October Family Arts Festival. The new Fantastic for Families listings website will offer year-round event information for families and extended marketing and promotional activity during school holidays and throughout the year.
Sheffield Creative Guild will unite and showcase the creative talent, energy and output of the city, formally launching on May 20th, with a party at creative cooperative, Roco.
The Get Creative Family Arts Festival will run throughout October 2016, marking the fourth year of this hugely successful national initiative funded by Arts Council England. On 30th March this year’s Festival will be officially launched at the Family Arts Awards event held at The Albany in Deptford, London.
Creative Future has just completed Arts Council funded research into the barriers marginalised and disabled artists face when accessing mainstream arts opportunities.
Now in its fourth year, the Family Arts Campaign has released an extremely positive independent evaluation of its initial three years following the third successful national Family Arts Festival.
Between January and April 2016 there are further Essential Fundraising Skills training courses taking place across England. Courses cost £95 but there are preferential rates available to CVAN members.
