The Life and Times of a Visual Artist
New Art Exchange, Nottingham.
Friday 16 February, 5–7.30pm. Free
Document is a project by CVAN East Midlands that seeks to tell the story of the artist, at this time, in the region, in their voice. Filmmaker Bill Newsinger has been working with six selected artists to gather footage of them making, talking about their work and their experiences.
'The Life and Times of a Visual Artist' will launch the films to an audience at New Art Exchange in Nottingham.
As well as seeing the films, attendees will be able to talk to the artists and hear from guest speaker and Document selector Kerry Harker, who will talk about her practice as an independent curator and her PhD research into artist-led initiatives. This will be followed by a conversation held between Kerry and the artists about their experience of being involved in the project, the process of documenting and reflecting a practice and what the next steps are for their practice.
