Chair, CVAN East Midlands
As Chair of CVAN EM Ben brings leadership to the Steering Group and presides over its meetings. He also oversees CVAN EM’s governance. Ben is Principal Lecturer in the Visual Arts Department at Nottingham Trent University. Previously Associate Head of the School of Visual and Performing Arts at De Montfort University, Ben has taught in art schools and universities since 1998. He is also an artist and studied sculpture at Chelsea School of Art and Design and the Royal College of Art, London. Ben was awarded the Jerwood Sculpture Prize in 2001, and has completed sited sculptural projects for clients including Arts Council Commissions North and the Jerwood Gallery, Hastings.

Director, CVAN East Midlands
As director of CVAN EM Liz is responsible for developing and delivering the regional programme of activity in collaboration with the Steering Group, representing and advocating for the Network regionally and nationally, brokering partnerships and developing opportunities and evaluating its benefits and impact.
Liz has been with CVAN EM since 2011 before which she was Visual Arts Officer at Arts Council England in the West Midlands. She also worked as a freelance visual arts practitioner, specialising in project management, workshop facilitation and professional development. She has worked with clients that include UK Young Artists, Birmingham and Coventry Contemporary Art Fora, the Herbert Museum and Art Gallery, Own Art, Turning Point West Midlands, the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists and The New Art Gallery Walsall. Prior to this she worked at Arts Council England, Tate Liverpool and Spike Island. She has a BA Hons Degree in the History of Art from the University of East Anglia.
