North East CVAN has recently shortlisted and selected ten artists to be profiled in their second round of Artist Films. These films follow on from the last batch which can be found on Vimeo here: http://vimeo.com/necvan
Artists were nominated by the visual arts community and selected by artists Kelly Richardson and Laura Lancaster; Alessandro Vincentelli, Baltic Curator of Exhibitions and Research; artist and writer Lesley Guy; and Matthew Hearn, Contemporary Art Society’s Head of Collector Development, North East.
Kelly Richardson said: "Shortlisting for the next group of CVAN artist films was a great reminder of the talent located in the North East, as are the films themselves. It's been a pleasure to be a part of that."
Artists to be profiled are: Paul Merrick, Cecelia Stenbom, Jennifer Douglas, Aaron Guy, Nick Kennedy, Dan Holdsworth, Faye Green, Narbi Price, Wolfgang Weileder, Ben Jeans Houghton.
Julia Bell, North East Coordinator said:
“These films have formed part of the North East Critical Dialogue Programme that the Network runs, and the intention is to profile artists living in the region internationally, via online platforms. Selection provides a ‘critical stamp’ to artists’ work and enables ten artists to have a film online that they can use to promote their practice. By April 2014 we will have 21 films, a living archive of artists’ practice in the region and a unique profile of the vibrant artistic community.”
