A newly published study about creative industries reveals it to be the third EU employment sector.
On December 2, GESAC (European Grouping of Societies of Authors and Composers) issued a study commissioned to Ernst & Young (an assurance, tax and advisory company). The study aims to measure CCI's - cultural and creative industries - markets in terms of employment and economic turnover for the sector as a whole as well as for the books, newspapers and magazines, music, performing arts, TV, film, radio, video games, visual arts, architecture and advertising sectors.
The purpose of the study is to show the economic role of cultural and creative industries in the EU economy and their contribution to stimulate growth. It shows that the sector is the EU's third employer after the construction and restaurant industries with 7.1 billion people employed.
