Breeze Arts Festival partnership project open call

Breeze Arts Festival is a multi-arts festival organised by young people, for young people aged 11-19. Events take place all across Leeds during the festival. Arts Development are looking for organisations to create a project (in any art form) for young people aged 11-19 to be delivered in the lead up to and during Breeze Arts Festival.

We are looking for projects that fit with the festival’s objectives; that will give young people opportunities to learn new skills and give them a platform to showcase these skills to a wider audience. Projects can start between Feb-July 2016 but there must be a clear final performance / exhibition / talk / screening / workshop during the festival itself (Sat 23rd - Sat 30th July 2016).

The Breeze Arts Festival will be made up of four elements in 2016. These are:
Universal projects open to all young people
Targeted projects aimed at specific groups of young people
A programme of workshops
A young people's documentation and evaluation group
This brief is for the universal projects that are open to all young people to take part in.

The aim of the Breeze Arts Festival is to help young people attend, participate in and contribute to creative activity in Leeds and beyond, through encouraging and celebrating achievement.

1. Listen to young people’s voices – young people at the heart of programming
2. Provide young people with opportunities to take part and learn
3. Develop new audiences
4. Signpost to year round activities
5. Celebrate excellence

Expected outcomes:
Create new work or new ways of working with young people
Create work for young people
Involve young people from Leeds
To improve young people’s knowledge, skills and personal development, enabling them to make positive life choices
To increase awareness amongst young people to access learning, employment, training and accreditation

Activities must support the outcome: Children and Young People Have Fun Growing Up, by providing play, leisure and cultural opportunities for all 11-19 year olds across the city.

Project criteria:
The project must fit the festival’s objectives and expected outcomes.

This project brief is for a universal offer for young people so projects must be open to any young person aged 11-19 to attend (up to age 25 for young people with additional needs), and not targeted at a specific group of young people. Subject to funding, Breeze Arts Festival will be sending out a brief for targeted projects in January 2016.

There can be activity leading up to the festival but there must be a clear final performance / exhibition / talk / screening / workshop during the festival itself.

Projects must be free to participants and audience members.

Projects must recruit their own participants (with support from the Breeze Arts Festival team where appropriate).

The project will need to use Breeze Arts Festival and Child Friendly Leeds branding and follow the festival’s marketing and press guidelines.

The budget available for each project is up to £2,500.
