The Newbridge Project seek Development Manager

TITLE: Development Manager

SALARY: £23,000 pro rata (2 days per week)

CONTRACT: 12months, February/March 2016-February/March 2017 (with potential to be extended)

OFFICE HOURS: 10am-6pm (expected to work some evenings and weekends)

DEADLINE: Thursday 21st January 2016, 6pm

The NewBridge Project is looking for a Development Manager to help us realise our ambitious vision and secure the future of our organisation. We are seeking a highly motivated individual to play a key role in our organisation’s development, feeding into and delivering a new business plan while creating opportunities for The NewBridge Project to grow and expand.

The NewBridge Project, established in 2010, occupies a 29,000 sq.ft. former office block and three shop units in Newcastle city centre. It is home to NewBridge Studios, which houses over 80 artists, NewBridge Books – an artist bookshop –  and NewBridge Project Space, as well as other creative organisations; Makerspace, Alphabetti Theatre and Wunderbar.

The NewBridge Project has occupied its current building for over 5 years on a ‘meanwhile’ arrangement that includes discretionary business rate relief and peppercorn rent while the site awaits redevelopment. This opportunity has enabled the establishment of The NewBridge Project, which has become a core part of the provision for artistic development within Newcastle and the North East.

The premises are within the East Pilgrim Street site – part of the NewcastleGateshead Accelerated Development Zone (more info here and here). The timeframe and plan for the redevelopment of the site is still unknown, but we are aware that we need to be proactive in developing an exit strategy and a next-steps plan that secures our future beyond this building.

The Development Manager will be vital in working with us to decide what comes next and putting systems and action plans in place to ensure this is achieved. S/he will work alongside the small team of FT/PT staff, studio members and stakeholders to develop a strategy to safeguard The NewBridge Project and plan for future transitions. This will include the planned establishment of a charitable trust.

Alongside this work, we are piloting a new, dedicated artist development programme, Practice makes Practice. We anticipate that all staff will feed into this programme (where relevant) by providing mentoring and advice sessions for artists and that the Development Manager will work with the team to provide management support.

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to join our vibrant, creative and inclusive community of practitioners.
