The new data dashboard from MyCake for ACE annual survey data is here!

MyCake’s Culture Benchmark has launched a new dashboard specifically designed to help the arts sector gain extra value from the Arts Council England 2011-2012 annual data set compiled from National Portfolio Organisations annual data submission.

View the dashboard here:

This unique tool for analysing your sector, region and organisations financial and audience data, provides a simple, flexible and meaningful set of benchmark comparisons for cultural professionals in senior and administrative roles to interrogate.

The dashboard is also an opportunity to see clearly the breakdown of income and expenditure so that you can look at things like the return on investment for your organisation’s marketing spend.

Sarah Thelwall, Founder of MyCake said,

“Here at MyCake we strongly believe in supporting arts organisations to make better use of the data they generate through the preparation of financial accounts and answering sector surveys such as the annual data request by Arts Council England. The ACE annual data set contains all sorts of gems, which can be used to support internal decision-making in arts organisations. It just needed a bit of mining (and visual restructuring!) to bring these gems out into the light! We are very pleased to be able to help by providing a highly tangible and easy to use tool."

Sara Selwood, of POMEGRANATE said,

"Frankly, I think this is brilliant. It’s precisely the kind of analysis that the sector needs in order to develop. It’s really timely. So thank you, My Cake!"

MyCake has taken the data that Arts Council England made publicly available on its website here and turned it into a dashboard which enables users to interrogate the data more easily via a graphical interface (as opposed to in the original excel format).

We asked Leo Sharrock, Head of Data Strategy at The Audience Agency, to spend some time with the ACE NPO dashboard, you can hear about his thoughts in the resulting video run through.

What Leo likes about this particular dashboard tool is that it is a user-friendly version of a pivot table … so no specialist expertise is required! It makes deriving simple and relevant benchmarks easy for anyone to do, which is a great need for the sector at this time.

It also offers a contextualisation of your organisation’s KPI’s. This is a ringing endorsement of the collection of this data by ACE.

Have a go, you can’t break it!
