Christmas at Kew is presented in partnership between RBG Kew and leading entertainment promoter Raymond Gubbay Ltd. The event is delivered by outdoor event and lighting specialist, Culture Creative whoes Creative Producer is Zoe Bottrell.
Christmas at Kew has just completed its second successful year. The event is an illuminated after-dark mile-long trail through Kew’s winter landscape. This is a Christmas attraction, enhanced by a seasonal food, a Santa’s grotto and vintage children’s rides. We currently attract an audience of circa 120,000 visitors over a 6 week period (32 show days) and aim to increase that to 150,000 in 2015.
Christmas at Kew 2015 - The Christmas Tree Trail, in honour of one of Kew Palaces residents, Queen Charlotte who initiated the tradition in England in 1800.
There are a number of specific creative briefs for different aspects of the event we would like to encourage responses to from visual artists including large contemporary Christmas Trees, large scale sculptures, Lanterns and interactive elements
We are wanting to engage artists to respond to the theme and the site to create installations for the trail, work must be fit for purpose for outside in winter weather conditions, interactive/engaging where possible and fit for the volume of audience at the event.
Deadline for first stage proposals is Wednesday 15 April 2015
