The Contemporary Visual Arts Network East Midlands (CVAN EM) is seeking a new artist member for its Steering Group. This member will strengthen the voice of the artist within the Group and help ensure that CVAN EM is as connected to studio practice and the independent sector as possible. Candidates must be based in the East Midlands region, and the chosen individual will be selected in order to help us maintain our commitment to represent the geographic breadth of the region at Steering Group level. The commitment for this member will be to attend 3 Steering Group meetings per year and to participate in at least one project group, including attending relevant meetings. Tenure is for 3 years, with the possibility of being extended. A fee for attendance will be paid and travel expenses will be covered.
CVAN EM, part of the national contemporary visual arts network, established to strengthen and develop the contemporary visual arts sector in England – has a mission to celebrate and support contemporary visual arts in the East Midlands, from making to presenting. CVAN EM is made up of and exists for individuals and organisations working at a professional level in the visual arts and seeks, through collegiate working regionally and nationally, to contribute to and support a flourishing visual arts habitat for the benefit of its workforce and its audiences.
In August 2015 CVAN EM was awarded project funding by Arts Council England for a three-year programme of activity. This programme comprises themed annual events exploring ideas relevant to the sector and featuring inspirational speakers; conversations between parties with a common goal to test new ways of working and stimulate new activity; investment in a cohort of regionally-based artists to shine a light on the creative process and profile the very best of regional arts practice; a region-wide exposition enabling joint programming and promotion to celebrate the most interesting work being made and presented in the region.
CVAN EM is hosted by Leicester Print Workshop and is supported by a voluntary Steering Group whose role is to oversee, engage in and advocate for its activities. This Group meets three times a year in different locations within the region. Members of the group are recruited on the strength of their relevant expertise and their capacity to be involved, and on their engagement with and commitment to CVAN EM’s mission and aims. The Group features representatives from key regional visual arts organisations and individuals from the visual arts community, including artists.
If you are interested in joining our Steering Group please email your expression of interest along with a CV to Elizabeth Hawley, CVAN EM Coordinator at email@example.com by Saturday 31 December 2016. We will be happy to answer any questions you may have and/or meet for an informal conversation.
