CVAN North East Artists Films: Rachael Clewlow

NE CVAN’s third series of artist films continues with Rachael Clewlow.
Rachael Clewlow creates rigorous and detailed recordings of her every day movements. Meticulously documenting this mass of information in diaries, this abstract record of the banal to the unexpected becomes a form of trace from which Clewlow begins to construct paintings and prints. Based around systems of translation and codification, Clewlow discusses her process and its associations with cartography, colour and forms of pictorial representation

Commissioned by the North East Contemporary Visual Arts Network (CVAN), this is the sixth of seven films exclusively launched in an on-going partnership with This Is Tomorrow
Taking stock of the increasing national and international recognition that artists based in the North East are attracting, this third series of films continues to profile and celebrate the recent bodies of work and wider practices of the selected artists.
