Job opportunity: Vacancy: Learning and Participation Assistant at Milton Keynes Arts Centre (Deadline 19/11/18)

Milton Keynes Arts Centre (MKAC) is seeking a highly motivated and efficient Learning and Participation Assistant. This new role will be fundamental to the smooth running of MKAC's programme of exhibitions, live events and educational activities.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the day to day administration of the Learning and Participation Programme, supporting an ambitious programme of workshops and events targeting the diverse communities of Milton Keynes. You will be highly organised, have excellent problem solving skills and a calm, confident and professional approach.

Milton Keynes Arts Centre is a multidisciplinary arts centre set in the historic grounds of Great Linford Manor Park. We present a programme of exhibitions, live events and educational activities inspired by craft, design and the visual arts. We provide artists with access to specialist resources and the space to explore new ideas, often developed in tandem with our communities.

Main Duties
To be first point of contact for all visitors to Milton Keynes Arts Centre; answering queries and resolving problems.
Support with the smooth delivery of our outreach programme targeting schools, colleges, families and marginalised communities.
Support with the smooth delivery of our professional development programme targeting artists, FE and HE providers.
Lead on administration of courses for children and adults.
Lead on the delivery of our dedicated Schools creative hire offer, Schools Art Menu; administration and advocacy, growing MKACs database of school partners.
Provide specialist support for programmed events and activities.
Work with the Learning and Participation Programmer to maximise online potential to grow and maintain audiences.
Work with the Learning and Participation Programmer to bring new talent to MKAC; broadening the pool of artist associates, artist-leaders and supporters of MKAC.
Ensure excellent standards of documentation and communication of educational programming.
Support the Development team by bringing together relevant information for applications and reports.
Support the Learning and Participations Programmer research and present opportunities for MKAC to deliver Arts Award.
Work with the Learning and Participations Programmer to successfully carry out effective risk assessments, safe guarding and fire risk documents adhering to MKAC policies and guidelines.
Any other reasonable duties that may be required.

Person Specification
Experience of coordinating learning events in a gallery or museum context.
Highly organised with methodical approach.
Flexibility to work evenings and occasional weekends as required.
Proven ability to work with limited supervision.
Demonstrate ability to follow instructions.
Demonstrate customer focused approach to work.
A readiness and flexibility to take on the challenges of the role and a willingness to 'pitch in'
.
A calm, confident and professional approach.

A self-starter, happy to working alone and as part of a team to see things through.
A clear understanding and commitment to the aims and success of MKAC.
