The contemporary visual arts sector is facing a number of key challenges and now, more than ever, we need to work together to build a vibrant future for the sector. CVAN is working with our regional networks for greater cohesion and a more strategic engagement with these challenges. We want to make sure our strategic plan is as responsive and effective as possible and so we are currently consulting the regional networks.
We don’t want this to be a chore so we’re asking people at CVAN events just to sketch their answers to three open questions. Please also participate in the discussion at #CVANFuture We’ll compile these inspirations from across the regions into our national strategic planning which will be published shortly after Easter 2018.
If you'd like to participate in the online consultation for the CVAN consultation, you can tweet your comment - or tweet an image - answering one of our three questions using the hashtag #CVANFuture:
1. What is the most exceptional value the visual arts can offer society?
2. If you could change or do one thing to improve support for artists, what would that be?
3. What is the biggest challenge - what just isn't working - in terms of support for artists?
We are beginning on 22 February 2018 at YVAN's event The Artists' Journey where we will be asking participants to engage with intuitive ways of thinking about the future of the visual arts sector in NE England.
We will be blogging regularly about our progress in developing the strategy and inviting commentary. We will also be asking for ideas, concerns, and inspirations from everyone in and around our CVAN regional networks via a hashtag #CVANFuture.
We hope to hear from and meet as many of the people who make up CVAN's networks as we can!
