Artists from or studying in Cumbria, aged 15-24 can enter the competition working in any medium including painting, sculpture, photography, installation, digital media, performance. Previous winners have worked with photography, film, digital media, animation, performance and installation.

Entrants have the chance to exhibit their work at the Vallum Gallery at University of Cumbria Brampton Road Campus, where a panel of arts professionals will select the overall winner and announce the 'Young Cumbrian Artist of the Year'. The winning artist receives the opportunity of an artist residency at the Old Fire Station, Penrith as part of the Eden Arts Artist Spare Room scheme, as well as a cash prize of £250.

This year we are introducing a theme for the submitted works: Climate Change. This may be part of the concept of the work, in the materials used or it might have inspired the work in more subtle ways.
