Consulting the CVAN Regions - Update

CVAN has been consulting since February with our regions to determine the focus for CVAN's national strategy work over the coming three years. We began with a discussion at January's CVAN coordinators' meeting and it was agreed to tailor workshops or other activities to fit around the regions' own cycles.

Over February and March, we have been working with CVAN NE, East, NW, SE, New Art West Midlands and YVAN to take views from across their networks. This process has taken longer than expected to organise and we have therefore put back making a draft available for comment until all the regions have had a chance to participate. We now expect to have a draft available towards the middle of April.

CVAN networks worked closely with ACE to respond to the consultation on extending the creative industries tax relief to Museums and Galleries towards the end of 2016. The Museums and Galleries Exhibitions tax relief came into law in November 2017

DCMS Inquiry: Social impact of participation in culture and sport

The DCMS Select Committee is currently inquiring into the societal impact of participation in culture and sport. CVAN will be submitting evidence to the Inquiry and it is important that the evidence we submit is regionally balanced. There is very little time for CVAN to consult with the regions so we are urgently calling for relevant arguments strongly supported by clear evidence in the form of case studies. Closing date: 18 February 2018

Whilst confidential at this stage of the process we can confirm we will share that paper once the findings of the inquiry have been published.
