The North East Contemporary Visual Arts Network (NECVAN) embraces both individual artists, curators and over 60 organisations tasked with delivering contemporary visual arts provision across the North East region.
Working as a sector and a network, our vision is built on collaboration, partnership, networking and brokering.
NECVAN Steering Group
NECVAN is delighted to announce that it has appointed a new Advisory Group. Huge thanks to everyone who applied. We had a lot of interest and a really high calibre of applications, which made selection challenging. It was important to find a balance of new and established voices, a good geographical spread and a cross section of the diverse arts offer we have in the North East. We believe we have achieved that with the addition of our new members, who will join existing members Sarah Munro (BALTIC), Alistair Hudson (MIMA), Charlie Gregory (NewBridge) and Peter Taylor (Berwick Film and Media Festival). Congratulations to our new members, who are:
Kathryn is Engagement and Development Coordinator for Northern Gallery for Contemporary Art in Sunderland, Chair of the Sunderland Cultural Partnership Learning Group, and is an artist working in video and sound installation.
Mike is an artist, teacher, writer and educator. He is Professor of Visual Art at the University of Sunderland.
Dawn Felicia Knox
Dawn is an artist and curator working across mediums and disciplines. She is part of the programing, fundraising and mediation/facilitation training collectives at the Star and Shadow in Newcastle.
Aikaterini is an artist living and working between Middlesbrough, England and Thessaloniki, Greece. She is a Research Lecturer and Senior Lecturer in Fine Art, Teesside University
Max is an artist based in Newcastle upon Tyne. He is the co-founder and co-director of M I L K Collective and Slugtown.
Kate is an artist living and working in Newcastle upon Tyne. She is a Lecturer in Fine Art at Northumbria University.
Paul is an artist, educator and writer based in Middlesbrough. He is the Co-Director of the Middlesborough Art Weekender, Founder of the Alternative Art College, and PhD Researcher by Practice and Lecturer in Fine Art at Teesside University,
The Advisory Group will inform and influence NECVAN’s work, identifying ways for us to play a significant role and add value to the sector, and to implement key recommendations from Untitled, our strategy for visual arts in the North East.
